Fiberglass Insulation Installation Atlanta

Increase Comfort Year Round

Fiberglass InsulationFiberglass insulation is the most common type of insulation, and one of the most economical solutions, particularly for crawl spaces, ceilings or walls.

Fiberglass Insulation works by “slowing” the transfer of hot air and radiant heat (i.e., from the attic to the living space below). The ability of insulation to resist heat transfer is measured in R-Value, which stands for “resistance to heat flow”. R-Value is determined primarily by the thickness of the insulation. The higher the R-Value, the better the resistance to heat flow and, thus, the greater the insulating value.

Fiberglass Insulation is made from 100% melted sand, which makes is an eco-friendly solution.

Fiberglass Blown Insulation

Blown Insulation is literally “blown” onto the attic floor using pneumatic equipment, hence it’s name.

Blown Insulation is an economical solution for insulating an attic floor.
  • It fills the cavities, creating a seamless blanket; and
  • It can be added to existing insulation to achieve the recommended level of insulation (reducing the amount of new insulation needed).

According to the US Department of Energy, when installed to the recommended R-Value (i.e., thickness), Fiberglass Blown Insulation can reduce total energy bills by up to 10%.

Installing Fiberglass Blown

EVERY blown insulation job should include the following:

  • Baffles should be installed around the perimeter to maintain proper attic ventilation under the roof shingles
  • Attic Door and Fan Covers should be installed to prevent air leakage and improve energy efficiency
  • Recessed lights on the attic floor should be covered to prevent fire

Fiberglass Batt Insulation

Fiberglass Batt Insulation is an economical solution for insulating a crawl space, ceiling or wall.

Fiberglass Insulation

Batt Insulation

  • Batt is installed in wall cavities between the studs, by stapling it to the face of the studs.
  • Batt is installed on ceilings using wire supports (called Tiger Teeth) between the joists, to hold the Batt in place.
  • Kraft Face Batt Insulation has a vapor barrier to keep moisture out, inhibiting mold growth.

Batt is not recommended Fiberglass Insulation for attics because it does not fill the cavity as well as blown insulation.

According to the US Department of Energy, when installed to the recommended R-Value (i.e., thickness), Fiberglass Batt Insulation can reduce total energy bills by up to 10%.
